Maritime Archaeological Resources

Maritime Archaeological Resources in the FKNMS have steadily been added to the National Register of Historic Places, both increasing their protection as well as highlighting their importance as cultural resources. The total number of maritime archaeological sites that have been interpreted for public outreach and education has also risen steadily in the last 30 years and continues to rise. The level of participation per year in maritime archaeological resources stewardship and outreach events has had large variability but has also increased in the last 30 years.
